The conclusions and recommendations offered by Professor Maynard and Dr Bloor in their weighty article (in the issue of November 2003 ) do not follow at all from the arguments adduced, being contrary to reason. Their three stages are very much of the nature of a syllogism, and the argument suffers from that frequent fault of syllogisms, the undistributed middle.
